Tim Chila - Owner & Founder
Tim Chila is the owner and founder of Tradecraft VT LLC. Tim grew up in his father's and grandfather's woodworking shops and spent his teenage years working summers for his dad building houses. After high school, he moved to Taos NM and worked as an apprentice to a woodcarver in San Cristobal NM for 2 years. He then moved back to Vermont and did finish carpentry for various builders until 1988 when he founded Arch. Wood, Inc. His focus in this endeavor was fine woodworking. The projects were widely varied from cabinet making to furniture building, to manufacturing custom windows and doors, to creating majestic curving stairways, to name a few. Tim's reputation grew as one of the finest woodworkers in southern Vermont. Tim had neck and back surgeries due to ski accidents from 2012 to 2015. His ability to perform physical labor was greatly diminished at this time and he took a job as a project manager for 10 years. This brings us to the present day. Tim is now physically fit and has been working in the field more and more for the last 8 years. He has moved to Essex Junction with his wife, Laura, and has started a new business. Tradecraft VT LLC is essentially a relocation and rebranding of Arch. Wood, Inc. Tim has brought all of his equipment with him and is in the process of creating a new shop in the barn on his property.
